"Oblomov" is a novel by Russian author Ivan Goncharov, published in 1859. The main character, Ilya Ilyich Oblomov, is a wealthy and educated nobleman who is prone to laziness and procrastination. He spends his days lounging in bed, contemplating life's big questions, and avoiding any kind of productive work. This all changes when he falls in love with Olga, a woman who inspires him to take action and make something of his life. The novel is often considered a commentary on the state of Russian society in the mid-19th century, as well as a critique of the entrenched feudalism and inertia of the country's ruling class. It is also regarded as one of the great works of Russian literature and has been translated into many languages.
